THE AGITATION FROM ERRORS THAT ACCOMPANIES YOUR GENUINE ATTEMPTS TO DO SOMETHING NEW ARE WHAT TRIGGER NEUROPLASTICITY & LEARNING • Excerpt from The Joe Rogan Experience podcast out now Spotify Podcasts where we discussed how (and why, at a biological level) doing hard things makes doing other hard things feel easier, let’s you access more appreciation and leads to a sense of peace. We also discussed how some degree of frustration from making errors while trying to learn is a *necessary* component of stable learning. Most people back away from that agitation. But it literally reflects the release of neuromodulators that tell your brain connections to change. Understanding this fact can help you learn anything faster. Recognize what the agitation is and that, in the context of learning, it’s a good thing. You don’t want to be overly stressed, but you need to be agitated and focused on the task at hand. And making errors through genuine attempts. Forget learning in a flow state. There is no learning in flow and there is no flow in learning. Flow is the expression of what you already can do. Our discussion also covered mental health from different perspectives, why it took me eight years and four complete rewrites before finally releasing my book Protocols, and much more. Thank you, Joe for hosting me and for your questions and the discussion, and for your support all these years. Also, thank you Young Jamie and team for all you do to make the JRE what it is. Much gratitude. You can find the podcast Spotify Podcasts as well as other places podcast are found. Thank you for your interest in science!
